Getting started...

Hi there! My name is Stephanie Kean and I would like to present to you the work myself and my classmates have been doing as part of our third year university French project. The work we have done so far will be split into different blog entries so that it may be explored at your leisure. I would like to thank everyone in advance for taking the time to read about our efforts and we hope you find the work we have been doing as interesting as we have!

At the beginning of our first semester this year, the 3rd year French students were told that half our grade the following semester would be based on a project that we were to work on over the course of the semester. Basically, we could pick a topic that was of interest to us and do a project on it, ensuring that there were enough angles to explore within our topic in order to fill up the extended period of time we had to work on it.

This seemed an exciting prospect to all of us right from the off, but topic choice was no mean feat!

Our group consists of Fraser Brown, Amanda Bain and myself and we got to work straight away on brainstorming topic ideas for our project. It was difficult at first to come to a conclusion, as not all of us felt as strongly about certain topics as others. However, after some deliberation, Amanda suggested that we explore the teaching of foreign languages to Scottish children and the ways in which we could improve on the methods that are already in place.

We were immediately all very enthusiastic about this topic as it is one with countless possibilities and we were excited at just how far it could actually go.

Full of gusto, we submitted our idea to our tutor in early January and were really pleased with the reaction we got.

Full steam ahead!

Read on to find out a bit more about the original ideas we had and how we planned to take on such a big project!
